Eligibility 

Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5)

Candidates applying for the Primary Teacher Eligibility Test must satisfy any one of the following educational qualifications:

  • Passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed./BTC).
  • Passed Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE regulations.
  • Passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks and currently pursuing or completed a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) program.
  • Passed Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and completed or appearing in a Diploma in Special Education.
  • Candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree and pursuing or having completed a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education are also eligible.
  • Junior Level (Classes 6 to 8)

    Applicants for the Upper Primary Level should fulfill any one of the following conditions:

    • Bachelor’s Degree with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of B.Ed., L.T., or Shiksha Shastri.
    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 45% marks and B.Ed. qualification as per NCTE norms.
    • Senior Secondary with a minimum of 50% marks and pursuing or completed a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
    • Candidates enrolled in or qualified in a 4-year B.A.Ed. or B.Sc.Ed. integrated program are eligible.
    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks along with B.Ed. in Special Education.
    • Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks and completion of a 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. course.       Applicants should carefully verify their qualifications before applying. Any discrepancy in educational details may lead to rejection during the verification process.
